Wild footage out of Garland, Texas, shows the moment a father used deadly force to protect himself and his family from a crazed man attempting to hijack their car.
The suspect allegedly tried to steal several other vehicles before approaching the one where he met his fate.

According to CBS News, “Officers said they were first alerted to a crash along Highway 66 near Dairy Road around 3:30 p.m. on Sunday, May 3, where a green vehicle had allegedly hit two other cars on the roadway. Police said the driver of that car, whose name hasn’t been released, then stopped at a nearby gas station and tried to take several vehicles by force. Officers said those attempts were unsuccessful.”
Surveillance video shows the man approach a white car and walk right past the driver as he pointed a gun at him to try and thwart the attempting carjacking.
Footage captured by a bystander shows the driver shouting, “Get the kids out of the way,” to his wife as he struggled with the suspect.
The distressed father then ran around to the passenger side of the vehicle and shot the suspect as he appeared to try and drive away.
A criminal ran from the police in Garland, TX yesterday and crashed his vehicle in the process.

He then attempted to carjack the vehicle shown here and the driver, with his family in the car, told them to run whilst he handled the armed criminal.

“It seemed to be self-defense,” Garland Police Department Lt. Pedro Barineau told Fox 4 Local.
A nearby resident told NBC 5 DFW, “I have three kids. I’m gonna do whatever it takes to keep them safe. That kind of stuff is split-second. It’s hard to imagine what it’s even like being in that situation with the adrenaline and knowing that you have kids in your vehicle.”
The deceased carjacker’s identity remains unknown.
