Bombshell: Chris Hansen Busts Alleged Child Predator DC Lt. Who Worked Security for Netanyahu Visit

To Catch a Predator star Chris Hansen took part in a major child predator bust of a DC police lieutenant who reportedly worked security detail for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and other foreign dignitaries, confronting him for exchanging explicit text messages with who he thought was a 15-year-old boy.

Hansen and his team documented as Lt. Matthew Mahl, 47, the first openly gay chairman of the DC police union, traveled to a specific address in Maryland last week to meet with the boy before being stopped by Harford County Sheriff’s Deputies, who had been posing as the boy as a decoy in the Reddit “r/GayYoungOldDating” forum.

Over the course of several weeks, the veteran officer allegedly exchanged a series of messages that became increasingly intimate and sexually explicit. 

Mahl allegedly sent inappropriate photos of himself in uniform and while inside his police office. He also allegedly requested sexually graphic photos from the purported boy.

In addition, Mahl allegedly made multiple statements indicating he was aware of the age difference between himself and the user, acknowledging that the individual was a “child” and stating he could not wait until the boy turned 16 years old, the age of consent.

Mahl was detained and brought into the “sting house” where he had a heated exchange with Hansen, refusing to answer questions and growing increasingly uncomfortable and nervous as the pedo poacher listed off various accusations.

In one incredible moment, Hansen described how Mahl bragged to the boy about working security for Netanyahu, saying, “You told the boy you recently were involved in security for the Israeli president. Netanyahu,” before asking, “Did you meet the Israeli leader?”

Again the lieutenant Mahl refused to reply without an attorney present.

“It’s not the first time we’ve had a member of law enforcement surface in one of our predator investigations, but a lieutenant with special operations in the nation’s capital — someone who’s coordinated security for heads of state and the president — was communicating for more than 30 days with someone who told him he was 15 years old. And here he is. And you have to wonder how many times he’s done it in the past,” Hansen concluded.

Mahl faces charges of felony sexual solicitation of a minor and solicitation of child pornography.
