Rep. Thomas Massie (R-Ky.) joined NBC’s Meet The Press on Sunday to discuss his recent primary defeat at the hands of a Trump-backed candidate, laying out how the president was dissatisfied with him for not blindly voting along party lines and over his release of the Epstein files.
At one point, Massie called out deceptive AI-generated attack ads deployed by his opponent that convincingly featured him having lunch with radical Democrat Reps Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (NY) and Ilhan Omar (Minn.), before he books a hotel with the pair.
“They used AI to create a life-like video that showed me checking into a hotel room with AOC and Ilhan Omar and holding hands with them! It was very effective on the boomers,” Massie said, adding, “but here’s the thing… that’s only going to work for a little while.”
“The boomers are gonna, you know, leave this country to the Gen X, and the Gen Z, and the Gen Y, and the Millennials, and those folks are the ones I won overwhelmingly. That makes me really hopeful for the country. They don’t get fooled by AI, and they check the news. They get news sources like from podcasts and other sources.”
“So they won this race by fooling my voters and expanding the base of people who vote to the uninformed voters,” he added.
Here’s the ad in question, accusing Massie of being caught in a “throuple” with the two Democrat Squad leaders.
In another segment of the interview, Massie highlighted a new form of TDS afflicting right-wing voters, which he characterized as “Trump Disappointment Syndrome,” saying the president’s actions on multiple issues threaten to alienate GOP voters ahead of the upcoming midterms.
“Look, the left — some people on the left have ‘Trump Derangement Syndrome,’ they call it TDS, but there’s a growing number on the right who have a form of TDS called ‘Trump Disappointment Syndrome,'” said the Kentucky congressman.
“I think what’s going to happen to the party this fall is they’ve disenfranchised a large portion of that constituency that Trump assembled to get us in the White House, the Senate majority and House majority. They’ve alienated by kowtowing to the pesticide and pharmaceutical manufacturers. They’ve alienated the fiscal hawks by running DOGE out of town. So I’m worried that in November this is going to cost the party a lot.”
Rep. Massie also confirmed he planned to name more co-conspirators from the Epstein files during his final seven months in office.
