WATCH: Mexican Trucker Smuggling Illegals Bails Out During Highway Stop

truck run bail

A foreign truck driver is facing a slew of charges for smuggling illegal aliens and attempting to flee from Texas law enforcement.

The Texas Department of Public Safety (TxDPS) just released footage of a significant bust that unfolded on May 18 in Webb County.

TxDPS troopers pulled over a suspicious tractor-trailer on Interstate 35 at around 6 p.m.

As the driver was turning into a dirt lot on the frontage road, he suddenly bailed out of the cab and ran into the brush.

Several troopers pursued him on foot while others began inspecting the big rig where they found 20 people packed into the sleeper compartment.

All occupants were identified as illegal aliens from Mexico and Guatemala, four of whom were juveniles.

The driver was quickly apprehended and identified as Miguel Angel Velazquez Chavez, a 25-year-old citizen of Mexico.

It is unclear if Velazquez Chavez was in the U.S. legally.

He was charged with smuggling of persons and evading arrest.

The illegal aliens were all turned over to Border Patrol.

Foreign truck drivers continue to wreak havoc on U.S. highway.
