A rustic boat packed with Haitian nationals attempting to reach the U.S. was interdicted by border authorities this week.
Customs and Border Protection (CBP) Commissioner Rodney Scott just released images and details from the stunning maritime bust.
Aerial footage shows a yola-style vessel overloaded with passengers heading northeast, potentially in the direction of Puerto Rico.
Outstanding work by @CBPAMO, @USCG, and our international partners.

CBP Air and Marine Operations, working alongside the U.S. Coast Guard and international partners, intercepted the watercraft, which was taking on water and at risk of sinking.
In total, 240 Haitians were removed from the boat, although their current whereabouts remain unclear.
“Our personnel helped prevent what could have been a catastrophic loss of life while stopping yet another illegal migration attempt,” Commissioner Scott stated.
“The message remains clear: illegal maritime migration is dangerous, it is not worth the risk, and you will not gain entry into the US.”
The Trump administration continues an aggressive campaign to combat illegal migration at sea, as we frequently report.
