New Gallup Poll Reveals Growing Opposition To LGBTQIAAP2SN+ Agenda In US

(LifeSiteNews) — According to a poll released by Gallup this week, support for the LGBT agenda in the United States continues to decline, with support for same-sex “marriage” down six points in just three years and belief that same-sex relations are moral at its lowest point since 2016.

“After two decades of rising support for LGBTQ+ issues, U.S. attitudes have plateaued and begun to slide back modestly,” Gallup noted. “Approval of same-sex marriage, moral acceptance of gay and lesbian relations, and endorsement of gender changes are all down from peaks reached in the early 2020s.”

Among Gallup’s findings:

• 65% favor same-sex “marriage,” a drop of six points since 2022-2023
• 62% believe that same-sex relations are “morally acceptable,” down from 71% since 2022
• 38% of Americans believe “changing one’s gender” is “morally acceptable,” down 8% since 2021

“Between 1996 and 2022, the percentage of U.S. adults in favor of legalizing same-sex marriage increased by 44 points, from 27% to 71%,” Gallup reported. “In 2024, the figure dipped to 69%, and it has shown a marginal decline each year since. Gallup first asked about the morality of same-sex relations in 2001, when 40% said they were morally acceptable. By 2022, 71% held that view, before a sharp drop to 64% in 2023.”

Much of the decline in support comes from changing attitudes among self-identified Republican voters.

In 2021, it appeared that the GOP was following the culture, with 55% of Republicans supporting same-sex “marriage”; that number has now plunged to 37%. Democrat support, conversely, is near-unanimous at 87% while independents have dropped 6% in support to 67%. Similarly, belief among Republicans that same-sex relations are morally acceptable has dropped 21 points since 2022 to 35% (independents dropped eight points).

The key question here is whether this is a plateau or a long-term trend — 21 points is a massive drop. In a column on June 4, Katy Faust of the children’s rights organization Them Before Us, however, stated that there is more to the story. “It has nothing to do with hate, and it has everything to do with waking up to children being harmed,” Faust wrote.

Something happened after gay marriage was legalized in 2015. People began to see three very specific things. At first, bringing these up meant you were attacked as a bigot, then you were dismissed as fearmongering, and, finally, once it was admitted, opponents tried to shrug it off as harmless. It turned out not to be. We now have a decade of receipts.

Faust believes that there are three key reasons for the decline in support for the LGBT agenda: that sex change “treatments” were marketed directly to minors; that trans-identifying men began to appear in women’s spaces, with “the protection of women’s-only spaces almost disappearing in the last decade”; and “buying children for adult arrangements.” Faust wrote:

There has also been an unapologetic influx of children being acquired by entitled adults. Couples who believe they are owed a child and can pay to create one. This has vastly expanded markets in sperm and egg buying, humans made in labs, women rented for their wombs, and children separated from birth mom at birth, and then placed into homes, severed from their mother or father by design. And as a reminder, none of these unrelated adults have gone through background checks, as we tragically saw in the case of Brandon Keith Reilly Mitchell, a convicted sex offender who acquired a child in Pennsylvania.

I tend to agree with Faust, and to her three reasons I would add others. Despite LGBT activists claiming, for decades, that the legal adoption of their agenda wouldn’t make a difference in the lives of others, we have now seen:

• Mandatory LGBT sex-ed in many schools and in many states serving as indoctrination for all students, regardless of what the parents believe
• LGBT activists engaging in relentless campaigns of legal persecution against bakers, florists, wedding photographers, and other businesses and institutions
• Lewd, orgiastic public celebrations of sexual perversity and fetishism in public — almost always with children present — during “pride” month, which is endorsed by many politicians and corporations
• Enormous pressure on corporations, educational institutions, and businesses to publicly embrace the LGBT movement
• Targeted campaigns accusing those who do not support the LGBT agenda as hateful bigots, or worse

And that’s just a short list. Regular readers of this column will be familiar with countless examples over the past 15 years. LGBT activists went from “how does legalizing same-sex marriage impact your life?” to “where’s your pride flag, bigot?” in no time flat. As it turns out, LGBT activists never viewed the legalization of same-sex “marriage” as their end goal. It was just the beginning of their cultural project — and plenty of people are finally waking up to that fact.
