Ukrainian kamikaze drones struck two Russian oil tankers in the Rostov Region of Russia during an overnight raid, according to Governor Yury Slyusar. Robert Brovdi, Ukraine’s drone forces commander, said Kiev attacked eight tankers.
Two individuals suffered minor injuries in the strike and the crew of one of the tankers were evacuated.
Targeting of the energy transport ships seeks to cut fuel and power supplies to Crimea. According to the Russian Governor however, the tankers were empty at the time of the attack and no oil was spilled.
“Ukrainian forces have intensified attacks aimed at undermining daily life on the Russian peninsula, in what Vladimir Zelensky has described as an effort to turn Crimea into an ‘island.’ The campaign has focused on triggering power outages and fuel shortages,” RT said Wednesday.
Kiev has been systematically targeting energy infrastructure in recent weeks.
On July 4 Alex Jones Live reported on a Ukrainian drone attack against a St. Petersburg oil terminal.
On June 26 Alex Jones Live reported on massive drone offensive against numerous Russian regions, including Moscow. That attack also targeted Russian oil infrastructure.
On June 23 Alex Jones Live reported how half of Crimea went dark after a Ukrainian strike hit a thermal power plant.
On June 18 Alex Jones Live reported on another massive Ukrainian drone swarm that targeted energy infrastructure near Moscow.
“Zelensky has argued that strikes on Russian energy infrastructure could alter the balance in Kiev’s conflict with Moscow, and has sought additional Western funding to expand the campaign,” RT said Wednesday. “Ukraine has repeatedly targeted vessels it accuses of transporting Russian oil, including ships operating in international waters, while claiming that commercial tankers can be treated as legitimate military targets.”
According to reporter Mario Nawfal, a U.S.-flagged vessel owned by Chevron was also struck in the Black Sea.
“The Yasa Polaris, which hauls oil for the Caspian Pipeline Consortium, was heading to loading facilities near the Russian port of Novorossiysk when it was struck,” Nawfal said Wednesday. “Chevron says the crew is safe and Kazakhstan’s exports weren’t affected.”
