The Bushehr nuclear power plant in southern Iran has reportedly been hit by shrapnel from a U.S. cruise missile and the U.S. Embassy in Jordan is on high alert as Tehran and America trade blows.

The official U.S. Embassy Amman 𝕏 account wrote on Thursday morning, “Reports indicate missiles, drones, or rockets are in Jordanian airspace. Seek overhead cover and shelter in place immediately. Remain indoors and pay attention to local announcements and alerts.”

Americans in Jordan have been given the following recommendations:

  • Monitor local media, such as Roya News, Petra News and Jordan Times for information.
  • Contact your airline directly for flight change details if your flight is affected.
  • Be aware of your surroundings.
  • Remain vigilant for anything appearing out of the ordinary.
  • Contact the Jordanian police by dialing 911 if you are in immediate danger.

According to ABC News, “Eight missiles launched by Iran toward Jordanian airspace were intercepted on Thursday, according to a statement from the Jordanian Armed Forces.”

Meanwhile, the popular OSINTdefender 𝕏 account posted, “Reports by Iranian state-run media of a cruise missile impact on the site of the Bushehr Nuclear Power Plant in Southern Iran.”

Journalist Mario Nawfal elaborated, writing, “Iranian state-run media just confirmed that a cruise missile impacted the Bushehr nuclear power plant in southern Iran, Iran’s only nuclear power plant. Iranian officials say, however, that the plant did not sustain any damage in the overnight attack. There were reports that shrapnel from missiles had fallen over the nuclear facility, and Iranian officials have denied this is the case. The news comes in as Iranian missiles are fired at Jordan and a military base in Kuwait.”

In the past 24 hours, the U.S. reportedly struck 90 targets in Iran while the Iranians targeted Kuwait, Qatar, Bahrain, and Jordan with drones and ballistic missiles.

During his Wednesday visit to Turkey for a NATO summit, U.S. President Donald Trump said he’s finished trying to negotiate with Iran, saying, “To me, I think it’s over. I don’t want to deal with them anymore. They’re scum. They’re sick people. They’re led by sick people, and they’re vicious, violent people. And if they had a nuclear weapon, they’d use it. As far as I’m concerned, it’s all over.”
