Ex-Los Angeles mayoral candidate Spencer Pratt responded to a podcast segment featuring liberal Hollywood actor John Leguizamo, pointing out the thespian “is confused about socialism” and explaining why.
Leguizamo joined The Moment with Jorge Ramos and Paola Ramos podcast last year where he expressed the importance of “socialist programs” such as “the post office, the police department, the fire department, your Social Security and public education,” saying, “These are socialist programs. “
“I’m a socialist Democrat. I’ve always been, I’ve always voted for Democrats my whole life. I’ve always had socialist leanings, I’ve always felt like it was important that everybody have access to the same things. I felt like education shouldn’t be a privilege, it’s a right. Medicine is not a privilege, it’s a right,” Leguizamo said.
Appearing slightly surprised, leftist journalist Jorge Ramos asked, “Now, you’re openly a socialist?”
“Yeah, I’m a Democratic socialist,” the actor replied, as if adding the word “Democratic” made him different than a flat-out socialist.
Pratt roasted Leguizamo over the remarks, writing on 𝕏 Tuesday, “Rich actor living in a $12M Greenwich Village brownstone is confused about socialism. Shocker.”
“These are not socialist programs,” he continued, explaining, “These are public services in a mixed economy. Every bit of equipment the fire department uses is from private industry. FedEx and UPS are better than USPS, and index funds outperform social security by like 5x. This is how the commies try lure you in. They either lie about what socialism is, or they’re just too dumb to understand it themselves. Either way, it’s easy for a rich actor to wax poetic about ‘sharing the wealth’. He just goes back to his secured luxury real estate. Being insufferably dumb is a prerequisite for being a socialist, clearly.”
Leguizamo has recently made headlines for absurdly bashing Hollywood as “not the most accepting place” for Latinos despite starring in countless major roles, most recently playing the Greek character Eumaeus – the loyal servant of Odysseus – in Christopher Nolan’s blockbuster film The Odyssey.
Partnering with The Daily Show this week, the Summer of Sam actor went undercover as a representative of a pro-Trump super PAC and asked Hispanic Trump supporters why they still back the MAGA movement.
